Noson Geraint Lovegreen

Roedd y noson lawr yng Nghlwb Criced Yr Wyddgrug yn dipyn o hwyl. Mi ges i sgwrs efo hogiau Menter Iaith a nifer o ddysgwyr hefyd, ac mi wnes i fwynhau cerddi a chaneuon GL.

Dwi wedi ychwanegu fideo bach i'r blog yma er mwyn rhoi blas o'i stwff i unrhywun sy' ddim yn ei nabod. Mi faswn i'n cymeradwyo ei lyfrau o gerddi i ddysgwyr gan bod nhw yn lot o hwyl i weithio trwyddi, hogyn reit glen ydy o hefyd.

Dwi wedi rhoi is-deitlau Cymraeg (falle mae 'na rai camgymeriadau) er mwyn helpu dysgwyr eraill dilyn hanes y can 'trychinebus' yma, efo cyfieithiad Saesneg yn isod:

(Gyda llaw, nid finnau oedd yn creu'r mwg a llenwodd y sgrin o bryd i'w gilydd!)

I had a lonely childhood,
Full of sadness, full of pain,
An awful tragedy was my life.
I had no sisters,
My brother ran away,
My only friend in the world was shep the dog.

My mum choked on a chip sandwich,
When I was four years old,
leaving only dad and shep and me,
Dad broke his heart,
and died at the end of the month,
But then I discovered 'Country Music'

Country singing, there's nothing like it under the heavens,
Country singing, for putting this old world in its place,
Country singing, which makes all the sadness worthwhile,
Country singing, when I'll want to cry out loud,
Country singing, and tears surge(?) down my cheeks,
Country singing is the way to suffer in style.

Through my adolescent years I lived on my own,
without anyone but shep to ever share the pain,
But when I was eighteen, my only friend was shot,
He'd been running after lambs,
Anyway, I found a girlfriend and married her in the summer,
But she died just after in a car crash,
leaving me lonely without a friend in the world,
But everythings fine when I pick up my guitar.

Country singing...

And tonight on the railway,
I'm lying under the moon,
expecting the train will come within the hour,
But it's starting to get light, and theres still no sign of the train,
There's propably a delay in Penmaenmawr,
I get up and go home,
to my comfortable little cottage,
To open another bottle of Jim Bean,
And that's where I'm sitting, in the kitchen with my radio,
Just me, 'John ac Alun' and 'Doreen',

Country singing...

('John ac Alun' a Doreen ydy ser y byd 'Canu Gwlad Cymraeg' os ti ddim yn eu nabod
nhw)

COUNTRY MUSIC

My childhood was so lonely, so painful and so sad;
My life was a disaster, the whole hog;
I didn’t have a sister, my brother ran away,
My only friend in life was Shep the dog
Mam choked on a chip butty when I was only four
Leaving only Shep and Dad and me
My daddy’s heart was broken and he died within a month
but that’s when I discovered Countr-y.

Throughout my lonely teenage years I lived all on my own
With only Shep to share my bitter pain
But when I was eighteen years old, my only friend was shot
He’d been worrying the farmer’s sheep again.
Whatever, I found love and we got married one fine day
but she died after crashing in my car
and left me all alone again, no buddies in the world
but everything’s OK when I pick up the guitar.

And tonight on the railway track I lie under the moon
The midnight train is due within an hour
But now it’s getting lighter, and no sign of a train
They say there’s a delay in Penmaenmawr
I get up and I go home to my hovel in the hills
To drink another bottle of Jim Beam,
And here I sit forlornly in the kitchen by the radio,
Just me and John & Alun and Doreen. (Lewis)
(chorus)

Country music, it’s the only song in town
Country music, keeps this old world spinning round,
Country music makes the sadness all worthwhile.
Country music, when I want to cry and weep
Country music, when tears are flowing down my cheeks,
Country music is the way to suffer in style.
